Public & Private Guidebooks: What’s the difference?

When you create a guidebook for your property, two versions are automatically generated.

  • The private guidebook includes personalized information unique to each booking such as arrival/departure dates, custom check-in/check-out times, and door code.
  • The public guidebook includes only property data and local information.

The Private Guidebook

The booking-specific private guidebook has two components that don’t appear in the public guidebook. The “Your trip at a glance” block just below the property image, and the bottom navigation bar.

Your trip at a glance

This block contains most of the information that is unique to each booking. The info is organized into a smart, interactive timeline we call the “guest journey”. Each phase of the guest journey is automatically highlighted based on current time relative to the guest’s arrival and departure.

  1. PLANNING info is highlighted until 24 hrs before check-in time.
  2. Then ARRIVAL info becomes highlighted until 8 hrs after check-in time.
  3. MID-STAY info then stays highlighted for the duration of their stay until 12 hrs before check-out time.
  4. Then DEPARTURE info is highlighted.

The Public Guidebook

The public guidebook provides only general information about the property and your local recommendations. You may want to provide a public guidebook link on your website, post it on social media. or place a sign with a QR code on-site.
